Impressions of Alaïa’s Fall 2024 Collection

Pieter Mulier's latest collection looked simple, but it underlied the remarkable technical skill and craftsmanship

In finding the words to describe Alaïa’s exceptional Fall 2024 collection, the maison’s creative director, Peter Mulier, said it best: “This collection is about simplicity and purity, about less meaning more—about intimacy,” he wrote by email before the show.

The venue was private and intimate, cozy, a presentation which felt like it belonged to another era. The models were gorgeous, with natural hair and minimal makeup, as they walked across the mirrored floors of the Rue de Marignan boutique.

They wore sculptural, architectural clothing in mostly black and white. Mulier created the entire collection using only a single merino yarn, which resulted in beautiful draped tops, layered trousers and asymmetric dresses.

It all looked so simple, but of course, these garments were the result of remarkable technical skill and craftsmanship. A sophisticated and elegant collection.
