Loro Piana SS25 is a Masterclass in Linen Craftsmanship
In a linen-clad Palazzo Belgioioso, Loro Piana marked its centennial with a collection celebrating their Italian heritage.
Most fitting of Loro Piana to present its latest collection at Palazzo Belgioioso, a grandiose residence, luxurious yet discreet, belonging to one of Milan’s most august families. Guests stepped from cobbled Milan streets into a space exuding refinement, much like Loro Piana’s clothing.
Also – both houses wear their history proudly. Loro Piana marks 100 years with a collection embracing a fabric that best epitomizes Italian summers: linen. Specifically, the maison highlighted what it considers to be the finest linen yarn ever produced, Nm110 (Nm for numero metric, the yarn count, or the ratio of length to weight).
The walls of the palazzo’s rooms were lined with linen, creating an intimate environment like that between fabric and skin. It was a collection driven by an ideal: to bring consumers closer to the material. Linen was mixed with cashmere, silk and banana hemp to create clothing of impeccable craftsmanship. The styling had a post-war air. Linen flowers were printed on dresses and fashioned into silver pins worn on jackets. So much can grow from one plant.
Other highlights: a new range of sunglasses, handsome shapes in Japanese acetate. Printed silk scarves which, rather innovatively, can be looped with a separate leather strap to create a shoulder bag. And a brown leather jacket that was so soft to the touch it felt like… no similie can do it justice. Best touch it for yourself.
