A scent can create a journey through time, conjuring subconscious emotional ties, memories and loved ones. This is one of the reasons why a signature perfume can hold more than its 150ml bottle appears to.
Take a trip back with Mastermind founder and creative director Marie-Amélie Sauvé, to discover some of her favorite fragrances.

“When I was younger I loved wearing Diorella from Dior.”
An embodiment of youth, Diorella has a fruity, floral essence that exudes spontaneity and freshness. A combination of Scilian lemon, honeysuckle and earthy vetiver, the scent evokes a youthful summer’s day.

“One of my favorite current scents is Parade from Celine.”
Created in celebration of both the great dandies of the 19th century and the musicians of the ‘60s, Parade mixes citrus bergamot and neroli with musk and oak moss, creating a sophisticated scent with a feminine note.

“Another staple perfume of mine at the moment is Jour by Hermès.”
Developed by perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena to express the essence of femininity only through flowers, Jour is the ultimate embodiment of a floral perfume. Notes of gardenia mix with sweet pea to create a fresh feminine tone from the nose of Hermès.
“My madeline de Proust is the smell of toasted bread.”
In Marcel Proust’s 1913 novel, Swann’s Way, the taste of madeleine mixed with tea transports the narrator back to his childhood. Ever since, any sensory trigger of involuntary memory is known as a madeline de Proust. Scent is a powerful example, and for Mastermind’s founder, the smell of toasted bread is a time travel device.
