Introducing Masterpieces, a New Mastermind Podcast
Six conversations, six masterpieces, six of the minds who made them. Masterpieces goes behind the scenes with the filmmakers, actors and craftspeople who shape modern film and television.
As Mastermind celebrates a decade in print, it is also venturing into audioland with its first podcast. Masterpieces is a six-episode series exploring the stories behind beloved works of film and television, as told by those responsible for them.
Each episode goes deep on one “masterpiece” – a single film or series – with one guest who brought the work to life. Hosted by Mastermind’s deputy editor Caitlin Hennessy, the conversation begins with the initial spark of inspiration, before moving through the setbacks they encountered along the way, the moment everything fell into place, the reception at its premiere and the legacy the work has left behind.
Presented in collaboration with Cartier, the podcast is a natural extension of the maison’s longstanding commitment to the magic and craft of cinema.
This Tuesday, the debut episode finds Sofia Coppola back at the Petit Trianon in Versailles, to reflect on the making of Marie Antoinette, 20 years after the film’s release.
New episodes will drop every two weeks on Spotify and Apple Podcasts, featuring renowned cinematographer Darius Khondji on Marty Supreme, Oscar-winning production designer James Price on Poor Things, Scenes from a Marriage director and writer Hagai Levi, and Emma Corrin, who reflects on both their breakout role as Diana in The Crown and their new Netflix series Pride and Prejudice – plus one yet-to-be-revealed guest.
Subscribe now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts to receive the debut episode in your podcast feeds this Tuesday.
